Animation by Frank Naranjo
Summary: In this assignment students will learn the principles of character animation, with a focus
on weight and timing. Both animation techniques, forward and inverse kinematics, will be introduced.
The technical aspects of this assignment include joints, IK handles, Pole Vector Constraint, and
the Hardware Renderer.
Requirements: Students are required to write a one-paragraph summery that describes the personality
of each character they plan to animate. The character's proportions and the quality of motion should
convey to the audience who that character is.
The walk cycle should be no shorter than three seconds and no longer than 10 seconds.
Students are encouraged to create a motion cycle that loops, such as Frank Naranjo's above.
An integral part of this assignment is that actions are staged effectively and that all motion reads clearly.
The camera should remain stationary.
