Summary: This assignment focuses on how to create natural and convincing motion.
The technical aspects of this assignment include a variety of shape deformations and explain
Maya's procedural paradigm. Students are encouraged to be creative in their interpretation of
natural phenomenon and the approach they choose to represent them.
Requirements: For this assignment, students are expected to create concept sketches and to
design a color palette that conveys the mood and atmosphere of their vision. While no overall time
limitation is given, students are encouraged to keep their animations short (between 8 and 16
seconds). Students should focus on the quality of their animation rather than on quanity. The aim
is to create works that are of portfolio quality.
